Marketing Emotion: Marketing is all about people and how to connect with them.
Marketing Emotion: It doesn’t make any difference whether you’re a business trying to sell a product or a service, an organisation or charity helping those in need or a community providing services and support
It all boils down to the same thing… people.
It’s all about people and how to connect with them – how to communicate a message to them in a clear and simple way that leads to the outcome you desire.
So who is your marketing really talking to? …Be honest.
Keep in mind that we want to connect with peoples ‘emotion’.
With ‘the promise of the experience’.
What they want after buying our product or service.
What happens as ‘result’ of buying our product or service.
Remember it’s all about them.
All about ‘what they want’. All about ‘what they’re going to get’.
How much money it’s going to make ‘them’. How much money it’s going to save ‘them’. How much faster ‘their’ new car is going to go. How much safer ‘their’ new car is going to keep ‘their’ family. How rested ‘they’re’ going to feel after their holiday. How much younger ‘their’ skin will look after using the cream. How well ‘they’ll’ sleep on the special mattress.
Now completely forget about your product or service from your point of view and test you marketing from the ‘customer point of view’.
Take all of the examples I have just made and change ‘them’, ‘their’, ‘they’re’ and ‘they’ll’ to ‘you’, ‘your’, ‘you’re’ and ‘you’ll’ so that YOU become the CUSTOMER. When you start to look at it from this point of view ‘as the customer’ do you care what year the company was established? Do you care that they have the fastest growth of any other XYZ company in the South East? No of course not. You are the customer and what you are interested in, the only thing you are interested in, is what ‘IT’ is going to ‘DO’ for you after you have bought it.
Here’s the thing. People who’re trying to ‘make money’ out of the XYZ company will invest time into reading the background info on them.
People who are ‘spending money’ will not.
