There are no magic beans with social media – social media management
I can’t imagine anyone would buy friends can you? Just think about it for a moment – if you had to pay someone to be your friend what kind of a friend would they be? There is surely only one answer to this right? Yep – utter rubbish! It seems to me just plain simple common sense that the exact same rule should apply to your social media friends. Now hold that thought for a moment. If you, like me and hundreds of thousands of other business owners are using social media to connect with people then the good news is that you’ve woken up and have realised where the future is. However, please please don’t make the mistake of thinking that there is a click of a switch solution. Advertising to an audience online with Facebook for example is fine (if you get it right) but buying social media friends is quite different and utterly ridiculous.
Just this morning I received a spam email telling me that they could “instantly make my business look more popular, look more influential, look like an expert, look like a leader”. For just £299 I could buy 500 Facebook Likes, 500 Twitter Followers, 500 LinkedIn contacts, 500 Google +1’s, 500 Youtube views and 500 Pinterest Pins. Exactly how many of your bought friends do you think would listen to one blog post, retweet 1 tweet, repin 1 pin? Exactly – none. Don’t fall into this trap and don’t waste your money. Social Media is about people – real people.
Social media success is 100% achievable but it takes hard work and dedication. Remember Jack and The Beanstalk was a fairy tail – there are no magic beans.
